This Saturday, September 2, more than 50 enterprises from the South Pacific will be at the Handicrafts Fair in Bahia Ballena, Uvita. In addition to exhibiting their products to the public, 25 of them will participate in business roundtables, where they will have personalized meetings with companies in the region in search of new customers.
The activity seeks to promote the commercialization of products and services of the enterprises benefited by the Gente project of the Forever Costa Rica Association, which in the last two years has promoted more than 100 green and blue enterprises and businesses in the country.
“The business tables provide short meeting spaces that will allow the establishment of commercial links and future sales between entrepreneurs and potential clients. In addition, during the morning they will have their own space for direct sales at a fair,” explained Olman Jiménez, coordinator of the Gente project of the Forever Costa Rica Association.
Tourism services, agricultural inputs, handicrafts, food, beauty and health products, and even pet supplies will be the products and services of the micro, small and medium-sized companies that will be present at the fair and business tables, in order to continue contributing to economic recovery while protecting the environment.
One of the participants in this event is Maite Gatgens of Biolley Farms, a women-owned company that produces food supplements and natural cosmetics with environmentally sustainable principles.
“We developed everything that has to do with superfoods, such as ginger, turmeric, hibiscus flower, pepper and green banana, and from there we developed our product lines,” said Gatgens, who was also a beneficiary of the Gente project.
Participation in the Crafts Fair is organized by the Forever Costa Rica Association and the administration of the Whale Bay Market.

More activities to promote local development
On Monday, September 4 and Tuesday, September 5, an event will also be held to publicize the Tu-MoDeLo initiative( Tu-MoDeLo ). Tourism as a Driver of Local Development), which promotes the purchase of local, sustainable and climate change-adapted agricultural and fishery products in the tourism sector (e.g. hotels and restaurants).
The activity is organized in alliance with Asociación Costa Rica por Siempre and Fundecooperación para el Desarrollo Sostenible, and will include representatives from hotels and restaurants in the Brunca Region, and institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), the National Women’s Institute (INAMU) and the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).
